Sponsored by: HFES-STTG (Human Factors & Ergonomics Society - Surface Transportation Technical Group) Stephanie Binder was 35 years old when she tragically passed away in 2011.  She was a human factors engineer at NHTSA and played a vital role in the Department's efforts to combat distracted driving. She was the primary author of NHTSA's overall driver distraction plan, and played a leading role in both of the USDOT's Distracted Driving Summits. To honor Stephanie's memory and her impact on the field, the   Surface Transportation Technical Group   (STTG) of the   Human Factors & Ergonomics Society   (HFES) confers an annual Young Professional Award to a young human factors professional who demonstrates outstanding contribution to transportation human factors.   Dear HFES members and STTG friends,   It's election time!   We are looking for nomin ees   for each of the following positions: TG Chair (2 year term) Program Chair Elect (1 year term) Webmaster (2 year term)   Positions will become effective at the close of the 2022 TG business meeting, which is scheduled to be held virtually before the annual meeting. The Editor of Human Factors invite submissions for the upcoming  Special Issue  of the Journal:  Human Factors  in recognition of and in memory of the career and accomplishments of Professor John W. Senders. The Special Issue will be co-edited by P.A. Hancock and G.M. Hancock. John Senders (1920 – 2019) was a pioneer in the discipline of Human Factors Engineering and continued his active career for more than 75 years. A winner of an  IgNobel Prize , Senders is perhaps best known in popular culture for his work on  distracted driving . He is also widely recognized for his predictive modeling of eye movements in complex work situations. However, in reality, his interests were legion and covered such a broad spectrum of topics that this brief synopsis cannot represent even a selection of his lifetime of contributions.
