Program chair:

Na Du, Ph.D., Assistant Professor, University of Pittsburgh
Na Du is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Informatics and Networked Systems, School of Computing and Information, at the University of Pittsburgh. Her research interests include human factors in smart cities, computational modeling of human behaviors, and human-centered design. She received her Ph.D. in Industrial & Operations Engineering from University of Michigan. She is a recipient of HFE Women Rising Star Award and HFES Student Member with Honors Award. She has served as a newsletter editor for the HFES Aging and Surface Transportation Technical Groups, and committee member of HFES Diversity Committee. 

Technical group chair:
Shannon Roberts, Ph.D., Assistant Professor, University of Massachusetts Amherst

Dr. Shannon C. Roberts is an Assistant Professor in the Mechanical and Industrial Engineering Department and the co-director of the Human Performance Laboratory at the University of Massachusetts Amherst (UMass). Prior to joining UMass, she was a technical staff member at MIT Lincoln Laboratory in the Cyber Analytics and Decisions Systems Group. Dr. Roberts received her PhD and MS in Industrial Engineering from the University of Wisconsin – Madison and she received her BS in Mechanical Engineering from MIT.

Dr. Roberts has expertise in studying and evaluating the interaction between humans and systems in transportation safety as well as other domains. Her research has been funded by agencies such as the National Science Foundation, the Massachusetts Department of Transportation, and General Motors and has resulted in a total of 34 peer reviewed conference and journal publications.

Dr. Roberts is active within the Human Factors community. She has volunteered her time in various positions, including the STTG Program Chair from 2018-2020, and her service to the HFES community won her the Bentzi Karsh Early Career Service Award in 2022. She is also a member the Transportation Research Board (TRB) and is the Paper Review Coordinator for ACH30 – the Committee on Human Factors of Vehicles.
